Raised by his homemaker mother Anne and shipping clerk father Lewis Stine in the suburb of Columbus, Stine was inclined towards writing since his early age. He had commenced writing since the age of 9, more precisely when he found an old typewriter in the attic of his home. Started from the jokes and short stories, Stine gained more confident in scripting which led him to graduate from Ohio State University with a major in English.
